This is a non spoiler review, because you as reader need to read this book. Also, I feel sometimes I have in the past gave away to much of the plot line. This has diminished the pleasure for would be readers.

Gold Spun by Brandi June is the exciting first installment in enchanting book series.

A delightful spin on a classic tale, where Rumpelstiltskin has been reimagined into a faerie.

“But are the most dangerous creatures of the beautiful ones?”

Seventeen year old Elenora Molnar, is a resourceful small time thief and petty con artist. Having been orphaned along with her three brothers by the Southern War between Reynallis and Faradisia. Nor is snarky and clever relying on lies and swindling, so she can feed and clothe her three brothers. The war took her oldest sister and parents away, leaving this heavy burden on her shoulders.

When Nor rescues a handsome a green eyed faerie, who’s name is Pel, from bounty hunters in the woods. Pel uses blood magic, he gifts or one might say tricks Nor with a way to repay the debt that he owes her for saving him.

In a series of events Nor is caught while pretending to spin straw into gold by soon to be crowned king of Prince King of Reynallis, Casper.

When Nor’s lies and deceit finally catch with her she is demanded to spin a room full of straw into gold. Casper sets a reward for her ability to accomplish the princes request or dire consequences if Nor is unable to.

Brandi June delivers quite an atmospheric, fantasy tale. Rich in courtly intrigue and drama. The Innovative world building and incisive character development make this a fast paced read. I loved all the characters and I appreciated the growth of Nor’s character. I have to say the Faerie Pel, is one character that is written in a way that I can’t wait to read more about.The love triangle was perfect, I also was captivated by the incredible world building.

This book had me hooked from start to finish, I literally could not put it down.

An engaging debut fantasy novel that I found beautifully developed, and had the perfect blend of light YA romance.

A spellbinding debut that made for a memorable reading experience, I impatiently waiting on the next installment in this series.
