These Tangled Vines by Julianne Maclean is another wonderful book.
I was once again swept away by the Maclean’s seamless narration that grabs you from the very first page.
We follow Fiona right when she receives a phone call from a lawyer in Tuscany, with the news of her biological father’s death….Whom she has never met before.
A deathbed confession from her late mother Lillian is the only reason that Fiona knows that her real biological father was from her mother’s affair, 30 years ago in Tuscany Italy.
Fiona makes arrangements to travel to Italy. Once there she discovers after the will is read she has been left a sizable inheritance. She has been left a vineyard Maurizio Wines, in a town called Moltepulciano. She also learns that she has a half brother and sister, Connor and Sloane. Who are devastated by this news and will seek everything in there power to dispute Fiona claim. They contest the will using Fiona parentage as a leverage. Fiona will have to keep her wits about her new family dynamics and sibling rivalries. An engaging book that switches back in forth from present day with Fiona tale to that of the past of her mother’s story.
A richly detailed story of past secrets that is multi layered with matters of the heart. I fell in love with the beautiful imagery through the descriptive narration. I also really enjoyed the storyline, and I felt invested in Fiona life.
This stunning book will transport the reader to beautiful Italy. The story and the characters will keep you flipping those page. A captivating book to take on any holiday or vacation, giving the the reader the escapism.
